  • Best Actress: Ensemble female cast of Volver (Penelope Cruz, Carmen Maura, Lola Duenas, Blanca Portillo, Yohana Cobo, Chus Lampreave)

Open to the Public

The Official Film Festival and the Film Market are closed to the general public. 

Residents of Cannes do have a chance to to get in with some tickets given away on a tirage au sort - a lucky draw system. Applicants must go to the Mairie and submit proof of residence in Cannes and then "wait and see". 

Members of film (cinéphile) clubs, film schools or other cultural groups from the PACA region may also apply for "Cannes Cinéphiles" passes. Applications (with justification) must be made before early May to:

Cinéma de la Plage 2006

The open air cinema on the beach is opposite the Majestic, the Macé Beach. Access to screenings at the Cinéma de la Plage is open to badge holders and residents of Cannes ONLY. If you are a resident of Cannes you can apply for an invitation (for one night only) at the Mairie up to and including 5th May. You must present proof of your address in Cannes (justificatif du domicile), for example a recent EDF bill. Each night during the Festival there are screenings of competition films. 

Festival TV

You can watch the Festival at home with the Live TV Festival, broadcast 24 hours a day throughout in French (and English). TV Festival de Cannes is broadcast on the following channels in France:

  • Canal Satellite: channel 26/27 (in French)
  • Noos: channel 56
  • UPC: channel 56
  • NC Numéricâble: channel 86
  • Cannes local cable network: channel 9

    Most screenings are restricted to badge holders only except:
    Open to the public: screenings at Miramar on invitations that can be requested from the Espace Miramar, 35 rue Pasteur in Cannes from May 13th to May 21st. And in Valbonne:

Screenings at the Cinema de Valbonne Sophia-Antipolis are open to the public. 

  • Director's Fortnight (Quinzaine des Réalisateurs) 18 May to 28 May 2006 
    Films shown on the independent Quinzaine des Réalisateur are open to accredited badge holders only.
