General Information
Open to the PublicThe Official Film Festival and the Film Market are closed to the general public. Residents of Cannes do have a chance to to get in with some tickets given away on a tirage au sort - a lucky draw system. Applicants must go to the Mairie from the 26th of April and submit proof of residence in Cannes and then "wait and see".
Members of film (cinéphile) clubs, film schools or other cultural groups from the PACA region may also apply for "Cannes Cinéphiles" passes. Applications (with justification) must be made before May 5 2004 to:
Quinzaine des RéalisateurFilms shown on the independent Quinzaine des Réalisateur, the Director's Fortnight festival are open to the public. These include short and feature films in and out of competition from all over the world. The daily programme will be released closer to the time. Once the festival begins, tickets will be available from the Quinzaine des Réalisateur festival offices at La Malmaison.
Director's Fortnight films are screened in original version with French subtitles except at the Théâtre Noga-Croisette where all films are screened in original version with French and English subtitles. Films screened at:
Tickets & Admission: Admission to these shows is allowed with a one-entry ticket or a 6-ticket book, full festival press accreditation, market accreditations (for buyers only) or the Cannes Cinéphiles badge. Prices: One ticket costs €6, and a book of 6 tickets valid for any screening is €27. These are available from the festival offices at La Malmaison (see above) during the festival fortnight. Cinéma de la PlageAccess is open to all at the open air cinema on the beach opposite the Majestic, the Macé Beach but you need to have a pass available from the Tourist Office at the Palais from 14:00 on the day of the show. Each night during the Festival there are screenings, either of restored copies of vintage films or out of competition films and shorts in competition. There's music by DJs before the show each night. The beach opens at 22:00 and the films start at 22:30. All films that not in English will be subtitled in English. Festival TVYou can watch the Festival at home with the Live TV Festival, broadcast 24 hours a day throughout in English and French from the 12th to 23rd May, on: Canal Satellite - channel 126 / Noos - channel 325 / France Telecom Cable - channel 251 / NC - channel 49.
