Help from Home

Wherever you're from originally, it can be helpful to know about the people who can represent you in France or Monaco. Practically all countries have officials working in their embassies (which exist to present the country, as it were), and also in consular services, which assist the countries' nationals visiting or living in France or Monaco.

Paperwork and passports

Depending on your nationality, you may find that your country's consular services can provide a great deal of help for your life on the Côte d'Azur.

The US Consulate in Paris, for example, has a wealth of detailed information on its website, which is a handy guide to many issues that crop up if you're an American in the country; while the British Consulate-General of Marseille welcomes citizens to sign up to its mailing list and receive notification of events or news of interest. The British Embassy and British Consulate in France produce "Living in France", a section of the website with articles of interest catering specifically to UK residents. AngloINFO has an INFOrmation Page devoted to Citizen Guides & Other Consular Services which can point you towards these and other resources from various consulates.

Find the contact information of your nation's consular representative in the Consulates & Embassies category of The AngloFILE. From issuing a replacement passport to assisting with the registration of a birth, you may be surprised by how much help you can get!
