We are currently in the process of buying half an acre of agricultural land in Cantaron, near Drap.
The current owner keeps chickens and has a great chicken house and large enclosed run for them.
He will be taking his chickens with him but I would like to get some although have no prior experience of keeping them.
Any advice would be gratefully received and particularly where chickens can be bought in the Nice area.
I was also thinking about keeping a couple of goats but again would not know where to purchase such animals around here.

Might sound daft but have you thought of buying an edition of chicken keeping for dummies? I use their beekeeping book and find it very useful.

PS there is an animal market in Contes where you can buy birds etc, not entirely sure when but it is well known.

There is a place up by the crematorium it's on the main road going to the ski stations, the opposite to where you live, but they have lots of different and beautiful chickens also they sell the food, you can't miss it.

What is the name of that 'place' and do you mean Carrefour/Toy R US/KFC road?
