| General Damaged Carte Vitale | GAnthony posted on 03/11/2009 at 18:32
e-mail GAnthony | My Carte Vitale (green card) has developed a crack in the plastic. Although it still works OK, I would like to find out how to go about obtaining a replacement. I have heard that there is a new Carte Vitale II soon to be offered, but would be quite happy to get a replacement of my existing one. Does anyone know how to obtain a replacement Carte Vitale, perhaps on-line? | eurokiné replied on 03/11/2009 at 19:03 e-mail eurokiné | As a general rule if the "puce" is undamaged the card will work. If they replace your card it will be with the new one with a pic on, you can get the forms by phoning up or going on the net. Go on ameli.fr, put in your social security number in the identification box & ask them to send you a password if you dont already have one. Once you have your password you can do all sorts of useful things like check up on your reimbursements & get a european card &, if I remember rightly, ask them to send you the forms for a new card. In the past your carte vitale was "valid" for up to 4 years without any updating, you are now expected to update your card every year in one of the bornes at the hospital, secu office, some pharmacies etc in order for it to be easily useable everywhere. They dont really make this obvious but if you go to a health practitioner they may tell you that you need to update it before they can use it.

The card still works well, and we update our cars each year at the pharmacy. I am just worried that the card may soon just fall apart (plastic splits right across) and render itself useless. |
